There were 23 starters for race officer Steve Treen on a beautiful spring afternoon. It was an interesting course up to North Bank involving close reaching and running with spinnaker and beating.

The first leg was a beat to Waterloo with at best up to 10 knots of easterly wind. E class had a difficult start when priority starboard yachts had to give way to those claiming water as they approached the moorings.

Waterloo itself was partly under the lee of the St Mawes shore and the wind proved both feeble and variable. Redgauntlet managed a tight spinnaker wrap as she rounded North Bank buoy.

All was well when we reached the clubhouse as Sally Becket had provided an excellent afternoon tea.

Tuesday 25th May

There were 41 starters for the last race in the 1st Flushing Tuesday series. It was a lovely evening  but what little wind there was,fell away to nothing and Chris Bell, the race officer, had a difficult task to get a finish. This was made worse when the close spinnaker reach northwards fell in the lee of the St Mawes shore with a tide that was ebbing.

Yachts were finished at the Vilt or off the Docks and the patience of the committee boat crew and        in the rib was much appreciated.
